A native of Montagu, I returned here in 1990 so that my children could have the benefit of a rural childhood and know what it is to live a simple life. Once they flew the nest I could devote more time to what I had always done - working with clay. I also started painting. My pottery is completely hand thrown and decorated by myself. I enjoy working quietly and alone, immersing myself completely in the slow and patient process required to take a piece of pottery from raw clay to the finished item unpacked from the kiln. I fell in love with earthenware as a girl and work exclusively in it still, producing simple earthy terracotta and highly decorated maiolica.
After a long career in IT I moved to Montagu in 2012 and started the next chapter of my life, finding myself in the happy position of living in a beautiful place and having the time to at last pursue my love of working with wood and designing furniture. Inspired by what is simple, graceful and functional, my designs are influenced by the traditions of American Country and Shaker. I use wood from renewable sources, favourites being French oak and ash, American cherry, maple and sycamore.
I do not have a standard range of furniture at present as virtually all of my work is done on commission. Pricing of articles is done on this basis and will be quoted on request.
